The Flat Crawl

I hummed and hawed about writing about this one. It was an amazing time… but purely just a party and nothing that reflects Korea/ or a culture that I am learning. Well possibly the “how life is as a English Teacher culture.” But it is making the blog… because in the end this blog is for myself and I want to remember this RIDCULOUS night! ☺
All of us foreign teachers, from various schools, and various apartment buildings got together to have our own, “Mosaic”...It was an ‘around the world flat crawl’, each apartment building’s tenants got together and decorated/purchased booze/food to represent a country.
My building was Jamaica. Being the crafty teacher I (sometimes) am I made some Jamaican flags and found some balloons to decorate. Cara found Cool Runnings to play in her apartment… and Steve (the guy whose apartment is directly across the hall from Cara’s) had Bob Marley ‘jammin’ out. Jeff, the somewhat crazy yet extremely fun Kiwi, did the shopping… and boy did he ever. We had about 4 huge cans of pineapple/fruit cocktail, a whole watermelon, apples, too many bottles of booze, orange juice, pomegrante juice, and cinder…. OHHHH BROTHER. We mixed it all in hug blue bin… and served it with ice (ice is extremely hard to find here). The events of limboing and hula hooping… were thoroughly enjoyed after a glass of this punch cocktail! (yeah we won the prize of beer (yuck)… see group shot with cooler… those are the folks who live in my building).
The night was really good because each building really put in the effort. England was the best in my opinion. They had soccer décor everywhere, pictures of the Prince and Queen, mashed potatoes/sausage (huge bowl), and then the drinks were in little yellow/red cups and the girls blew a whistle (soccer referees) and yelled/put up “RED CARD” or “YELLOW CARD.” I thought this was a great idea!!! After England… we moved to Russia—on Andy’s, Ange’s, and Nathan’s rooftop. (Vodka of course & jello shooters)… then from there my building Jamaica, and then South Korea (short stop at Todd’s place), finally we finished on the border between USA (meat/whiskey) and MEXCIO (nachos/tequila) on Brad/Theresa’s rooftop. Brad and Will were the Mexican’s decked out in Panchos/ sombreros and Joey/Dan were the Americans. Mexico/USA was a nice place to finish because it was also on the roof and it felt like a great outdoor party.

*note a word to my worrisome mother… I definitely did not drink all of these different mixes--- But on that note… just writing about all the various alcohols consumed… think about that HANGOVER… ha ha some that I talked to the next day were in a world of hurt! I guess at times I am blessed… that my body makes me think a little more than the average person. ☺
