Seodemun Prison

In the center of Seoul is a former prison turned museum that tells the story of the countless tortures and executions of Korean freedom fighters and nationalists. It was a horrible place that was utilized less than 62 years ago by the Japanese and less than 10 years ago as a regular prison by the Koreans. The prison really knew how to get the point across with life like mannequines complete with blood and gore either getting tortured or trying to kill themselves. The coffin I am locked in is the smallest little box in the world used to torture people for days. There were 10’ by 10’ cells, including underground isolations cells, and a hanging execution room. It was interesting walking the same streets this time with countless school children trying to get a feel for what really happened here.
